  1. What qualifies as "Student or Early Career" for this membership?
    Our Student or Early Career Membership is designed for professionals who are within the first 5 years of their career in the field of pain management, including clinicians, researchers, and allied health professionals.

    Student and Early Career Members will receive a range of benefits for just £25, including:
    • Online access to the British Journal of Pain
    • Discounted rates for the Annual Scientific Meeting and study days

  3. How long does the Student and Early Career Membership last?
    The membership lasts for one year from 1 November 2024 until 31 October 2025. You'll have the opportunity to renew at the end of each year.
     
  4. What’s the difference between the Student or Early Career Membership and the standard membership?
    The Student and Early Career Membership offers the same core benefits as the standard membership but at a reduced rate of £25. It is specifically designed for professionals who are just starting their careers and want to access resources and networking opportunities in a more affordable way.
     
  5. How do I join as a Student or Early Career Member?
    You can apply for membership by visiting our membership page (link will be added on 1 November 2024), where you’ll find the registration form and payment options.
     
  6. Are Student or Early Career Members eligible to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM)?
    Yes! Student and Early Career Members receive discounted rates for the ASM and other events, providing an excellent opportunity to network with leading experts in pain management and stay updated on the latest research.
     
  7. Can I upgrade my membership after the first year?
    Absolutely! After the first year, you can renew as a Student and Early Career Member if you’re still within the qualification window, or upgrade to a standard membership as you progress further in your career.
     
  8. Are there opportunities for networking with other Student and Early Career Members?
    Yes! As a Student and Early Career Member, you’ll have access to Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and invitations to exclusive webinars and events where you can connect with peers and leaders in the field.
     
  9. What payment methods are accepted for Student and Early Career Membership?
    We accept payments via credit card and debit card through our secure online payment system.
     
  10. Is there a student membership option?
    Yes, we also offer a student membership at a discounted rate for individuals currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree related to pain management.
     
  11. Can I get involved in the British Pain Society’s committees or working groups as a Student or Early Career Member?
    Yes, Student and Early Career Members are encouraged to participate in various working groups, and there are opportunities to contribute to the direction of the society and the field of pain management.
     
  12. What is the process for accessing the British Journal of Pain?
    Once your membership is confirmed, you will receive access details via email. You can log in to our members’ area on the website to access the British Journal of Pain.
     
  13. Can Student and Early Career Members vote in elections or stand for office?
    Yes, Student and Early Career Members enjoy the same voting rights as standard members, so you can participate in elections, contributing to the governance of the Society.
     
  14. What happens if I move beyond the 5-year eligibility period during my membership year?
    If you pass the 5-year mark during your membership year, you will remain a Student or Early Career Member until the end of your current membership cycle. Upon renewal, you can transition to a standard membership.
