Assessment and Management of Patients with Post Covid-19 Syndrome
30th to 31st Mar 2022
The Covid-19 pandemic has dominated all of our lives since March 2020. As rates of critical illness fall and national restrictions begin to be lifted, we continue to see that demand for the skills of clinicians and therapists involved in supporting patients with symptoms related to Post-Covid 19 syndrome continue to grow. For many, the preparation and training for staff working in pain services who encounter patients with post-covid 19 syndrome, has been limited. As the Pain Management Programmes SIG, on behalf of the British Pain Society, we attempt to address this issue by inviting you to an educational webinar on 30th March 2022, 1900-2030 on the assessment and management of patients with Post Covid-19 syndrome.
An experienced group of speakers have generously agreed to share their knowledge on this area;-
1. Professor Sally Singh Head of Pulmonary and Cardiac Rehabilitation at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and the University of Leicester, will share some of her data and experience on exercise based rehabilitation for patients with post covid-19 syndrome.
2. Dr Melissa Heightman Consultant Respiratory Physician and Clinical Lead for Post COVID Services and for Integration in Medical Specialities, UCLH and National Speciality Adviser of the Long COVID Program, NHSE will share her approach to the assessment of post covid syndrome. This is based on the experience of more than 3500 patients who have attended Post Covid-19 clinics at UCLH
3. Rachel Tarrant and Jenny Davison Clinical Pathway Co-ordinators from the Leeds Long Covid Community Rehabilitation Service will share their experience and lessons learnt on implementation of an Allied Health professional led Long Covid service, which will include sharing the rehabilitation needs of people recovering / suffering from long covid.
