WANTED: EDITORS IN CHIEF, ASSOCIATE EDITORS AND EDITORIAL BOARD MEMBERS
24th Oct 2023
The British Journal of Pain, is our flag ship journal, focussed on practicing healthcare professionals and researchers in the field of pain and its specialty areas. BJP currently publishes six times per annum (plus the one issue of ASM abstracts), and the two current Editors in Chief, are supported by three Associate Editors. The current Editors, Felicia Cox & Roger Knaggs intend to step down at the end of 2023. They have successfully managed our migration to the publisher Sage, who have supported us to achieve an Impact Factor of 1.8, and of note, we no longer have to commission content. In 2022 we received 154 manuscript submissions (a 1.3% increase from 2021) and already in 2023 we have received 144 manuscripts as of last week.
We are currently seeking three Editors-in-Chief to continue to develop the content and reach of the journal. Currently this post does not attract a stipend, but this is being considered. Additionally, we hope to recruit additional Associate Editors to replace our and future current vacancies together with Editorial Board members. We are especially keen to hear from psychologists, physiotherapists and nurses.
You need to be organised, proactive and keen to develop your skill set. Being supportive and sensitive to the needs of authors and reviewers is essential.
Please contact us in case you are interested.
