PQIP collaborative webinar series: Prioritising Perioperative Pain Management 


Join the Perioperative Quality Improvement Programme (PQIP) collaborative webinar on October 12th 1-2pm. Pain is common and unpleasant postoperative issue associated with increased morbidity and mortality, longer hospital stays, delayed recovery and reduced quality of life for patients. Prioritising postoperative pain management is a top PQIP improvement priority and the focus of our next collaborative webinar.

We will be joined by an expert panel to discuss the most recent research from PQIP and the perioperative setting regarding how to improve postoperative pain management for our patients.  

  

Content of the webinar:   

  • PQIP fourth cohort report postoperative pain results  
     
  • Dr Richard Armstrong, a Severn anaesthetic trainee and the first author of the recently published paper in Anaesthesia, discussing the scoring system developed to aid prediction of which patients will develop severe postoperative pain after surgery from PQIP data  
     
  • Dr Mike Rockett, Consultant anaesthetist and specialist in Pain management at Derriford hospital in Plymouth who has worked closely with GPAS and the RCoA in the development of preoperative complex pain and opioid use guidance and the RCoA curriculum and is the chief investigator for the up-coming RAFT POPPY study. Dr Rockett will be joining us sharing his expert insight into the current topics in perioperative pain management.
